  1. Thank you for great ideas. I didn’t realize that there are so many though I did a cleaning service when I was younger we also sold sdrap metal but later we went into the construction and retail and even $20,000 investment wasn’t enough. With all businesses you should wait min. 3-5 years to see the development and if you need to pay the expensive tools and rent place than it grows and grows :). You also need to pay for advertising so to learn about building a web-site for free would be great for almost everybody.starting a business. After you know it you can delegate it.

    1. Radka,

That is a very good point about waiting a certain number of years. Large investments will be needed at some point, though, you as the business owner need to determine when the right time is. There are other great ways to market besides a website.

Say you have a scrap business and are looking to find more scrap metal. I would place an ad with church bulletins. Some churches have between 500-2,500 families that read those. A simple ad on the back of a church bulletin that says “sell all your unwanted junk metal – Call me”. It is cheap and highly effective. Advertising in churches builds a trust very quickly with your clientel.

  2. First of all, well done with your website! Very clean and well designed. Now onto the article. These methods that you have mentioned are great ways to make money, especially affiliate marketing and blogging.

Ebay as well! For those that don’t know, getting items from stores like Marshalls or Ross and selling them for $5 – 10 more than you bought it is the way to get it done! But with affiliate marketing, good Lord Jesus! Talk about lucrative. $10k a month from a business that cost you about $50 a month to operate… Nothing else compares. Great list! I hope people take heed to what you’re saying here.

    1. Christian,

I never thought about selling things from large retailers for such a small margin. When you shop at a large box store, you will be buying items at a wholesale price. (of course, do not forget about the membership fee) Then you go online and sell it at the retail value or a few dollars less. People will flock to the cheaper items online. Even if they are only saving a few dollars.

Affiliate marketing can be very lucrative. The problem people seem to have is they give up to see. It is hard to see the results right away such as with eBay, you post an item someone buys it right away. You do not make as much though. You can really take affiliate marketing anywhere once you learn how to do it correctly.

  3. Nice post. I’ve tried some of the methods that you described on this list before. Selling items on eBay can be pretty nice. I made some good money through that already. My favorite method though is Affiliate Marketing/ Blogging. What’s your personally favorite?

Blogging can give you a great reward if you are willing to put time and effort into it. It takes a lot of time and patience though so you have to be ready to invest that into this.

    1. Affiliate marketing is by far my favorite. I get to work from anywhere and when I want too. That is a big freedom. Although, I have been very successful wholesaling real estate. That is more challenge and you need to have some personable skills to close deals. But, the amount of money you can make off a quick flip is stupid.

I am glad to hear you have been successful with eBay sales. If you need help with blogging or affiliate marketing or have any other questions please feel free to ask!

  4. HI there,

Great article! I would have never guessed that real estate is a low cost or no money to start. I certainly need to read over and learn from the book suggested.

Blogging/affiliate marketing is pretty awesome when you combine them. It does cost to start though! site name, ($10 or so), hosting and of course if one wants to do it right and gear themselves up for success then the right training required.

Why I love blogging is that it can function like real estate and bring a passive residual income in the long term. I consider my blogs as internet real estate. and like real estate you can flip (sell) the sites on!

  5. this is an awesome help to people trying to make money or just trying to make a living. There are so many out there who don’t want to work a 9-5 job and I do not blame them. Your list can help them do that. thank you for sharing.

    1. Brent,

Working a 9-5 job is not always a bad thing. You have a steady paycheck each week. When you are working for yourself, you do not do the typical hours. You need to work longer and harder to make your business lift off the ground. As long as you are willing to work for yourself to create something, then starting one of these businesses is the best way to begin entrepreneurship.

  6. This is a great list. It is actually a list people could work through. So many of these list are just a hook to get you into a sales funnel. I do or have done most of these things. I have been self employed for 25 years, and sometimes you have to scramble to make ends meet. Thanks for the tips. I will be checking on the book scout

    1. Enid,

I think you can tell most of these are not to funnel you into a sales pitch. These are all genuine ideas to help someone become self-employed. Of course, there are some resources that will be needed and the depends on entirely the business you decide to start. If you go with an internet business you will need a domain name, web hosting, and possibly some learning. It all depends on what type of business you are trying to start.

  7. Thanks for providing so many ideas. I have done a few of these but I am most interested in the wholesale real estate. It seems a bit too easy to be true as property is normally quite hard to get into, so I think I will check out the book. I have also had some experience in trying to do dropshipping but I found that doing affiliate marketing, even though the commission or profit would be less, is better for me as there is less work involved.

  8. Kurtis,

I agree with all of these methods man! I’ve always been a huge proponent of pushing your own skills and abilities, being an athlete myself, that part resonated with me perfectly.

I remember back in college I used to teach private swim lessons…Always good money! Especially to those with kids who were aspiring competitive swimmers.

    Thanks for the article!
